On December 12, 2002, the first Juan Valdez® coffee shop opened its doors at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, starting a history of dreams and great achievements for Colombian premium coffee.

Research
The National Coffee Research Center (Cenicafé) generates, with a regional approach, appropriate, competitive and sustainable technologies. In addition, it develops improved coffee varieties and produces their seeds for distribution to coffee growers through the departmental committees of coffee growers.
Coffee Inspections
Located at the three main export ports, they ensure that the existing regulations for export of Colombian coffee are complied with (Go to infographic).

This means that coffee fruits, dry parchment beans and green coffee do not contain chemicals or microorganisms, at levels that affect people’s health, when making or consuming the drink.
